As someone who’s failed at love and relationships more than I’ve gotten it right maybe I get why the pursuit question is so difficult. There’s something in men (wow it’s challenging to make generalizations based on gender) but we do want to chase, pursue, etc the woman who catches our eye. That can go badly in so many ways, but balanced and mostly wholesome it’s beautiful for all. I still “pursue” my wife of nearly 20 years…can’t stop. Not sure how this attitude fits into our appropriately sensitive culture but I’m delighted you began the conversation.
Yes i agree! I wanted to touch on that in my writing too. We forget Pursuing is something we’ve receive as a gift from our savior. So when we try to do it ourselves, failure will happen. We will let people down. Men do have a certain pressure on them, and it can be intimidating. I wish I would have seen that more in my dating years, but I was too young. But there is always grace and time to learn. I have a hard time making generalizations on gender too, so I always remember to include women as well. We have to pursue in the relationship too, it might look different, but we have to do it. When done to together you have a beautiful relationship filled with grace and love. Even through the mistakes.
Also congratulations on 20 years of marriage! I’m only on year 3 so I got some catching up 😂
When people ask us how long we’ve been married we always, always answer: “not long enough!” Then we’ll give the years (I rounded, it’s 18). I highly recommend it…it reminds us of the blessing of “repairing” (in all the meanings of that word). Congratulations on your 3 years! That’s wonderful. st

I love that way of answering because it really does feel like it’s not long enough! I may have to steal that lol
It’s yours…we get it how good it can feel.
